"Elements in Your Life, Need to be Preserved"
]]>A HOLIDAY STORY......... This week I was at my local medical group for my bi-weekly (Pro-time) blood test. Unusually crowded, I took a seat next to this woman, and I noticed she seemed quite anxious and upset. I asked her if everything was okay and she said she was waiting to be called for her bloodwork and was waiting for what it seemed to her as a long time. We began talking and she asked me my religion....I said "Catholic" and she told me she was Jewish.... Somewhere in our continuing conversation, we moved to the subject of Israel and I mentioned that I was a supporter of Israel. We continued our banter and came to our joint agreement that our same GOD is worshipped in many ways, by many religions, but always to the same end.
Still, she kept looking up, checking each time the nurse called a name, but Annette's name not yet called. (we exchanged names somewhere during our conversation.....OH, and she told me she was 89 years old)
Then, my name was called!!! I got up, turned at looked at Annette, and grabbed her hand and said....."We're going in together and I'll tell the nurse you are taking my place" She smiled and gave me such a sweet but hesitant look, but said, "Are you sure it will be okay and we won't get in trouble?" (paraphrasing) "Annette, I said, "What can they do? We're Senior Citizens and We Have The Power!" (Now her look turned to pride and confidence) She then said, quite loudly, as I recall, "LET'S GO!"
Tests done, we both walked out together and I wished her a "Happy Hanukkah" and then, unexpectedly she reached up with both hands to my head, signalled for me to bend down a bit, held my head and kissed my forehead and said...."Merry Christmas, Bob...May Our God Bless Us Both....."
My Christmas is Complete.
